This new residence, set in a historic 1920s neighborhood now transitioning to larger homes, was designed to respect its traditional surroundings. With divided-lite windows, hip roofs, and a sloping roofline that aligns with the property’s natural slope, the home harmonizes with the scale and character of its setting.

The entry hall features a sculptural wooden staircase, while practical spaces include a mudroom and a basement gym. This family home embodies the core of our design philosophy, balancing Natural Modern aesthetics with respect for the site’s history and client needs. Set in a well-located neighborhood near Oakdale Woods Conservation Park, the property originally featured a single-story red brick veneer house. Through thoughtful design and a carefully integrated addition, the residence now harmonizes with its natural surroundings, with stone veneer on the main facade. The approval process was extensive, involving multiple Newton departments due to the home’s wetland proximity, yet each step reinforced our commitment to realizing a design that is both timeless and highly functional for the family.
